The company Spark Digital Entertainment is a limited responsability company joined by some of the most talentous professional artists in the italian entertainment industry.
The search for excellence. The studio creative approach is led by the will to radunate only the best concept designers in the market, people showing to have the same human characteristics (or superior) of the professional ones.
Formation. All the Spark operators have the chance to attend the internal formation courses twice per week.
These courses, completely free, let the operators to keep themselves updated about production techniques and the optimization of the use of the software.
Care of the details. Seriousness, organization and comunication are the main characteristics used by Spark to face the projects, from the beginning analysis phase.
Creativity and preparation. The idea as the boost-force identifies the company workflow and let Spark to bind strong ties whith anyone who wanted to develop his own projects with Spark D.E.

In its first 2 year's life Spark D.E. reached investment and projectual objectives which have confirmed the ability and reliability; it conquered the trustness of the main italian and international broadcast channels, and the one of the best cinematographical and television production companies, obtaining at the end of this process the David di Donatello nominee for the best visual effects during its first working year.

NAS, the Spark technological heart.
Spark bases its technology on the power of the Network Attached Storage (NAS), which lets the server to directly access to the hi-speed (640 Mb/s) centralized storage, overlapping the "traffic data jam" caused by the more common TCP/IP protocol.
Hard disks access times are close to the instant and the workstations are fully dedicated to the pure calculate: for this reason, there are no overloading risks at all.
The technology used by Spark lets the parallel use of 128 server against the 8 commonly used and some specified modifics made by Dell Computer SA let NAS to be pushed to the its extreme limits, which means 20 GB data sent simultaneously.
A fibre-channel HUB manages the traffic made by every port and it optimizes the maximum limit of each band depending on the needs of every single client.
Blade Server have Intel 3,2 Ghz dual processors and they have 2Gb Random Access Memory capability.
Workstation
Workstation have by default PCI-Express technology, which is based on Nvidia Fx processors.
The same configuration among Blade Server and workstation guarantees a strong reduction of swapping risks in the rendering phase as well as during the making of very complex projects.
The operating system.
Spark is based on LINUX/FEDORA operating system, and it keeps access possibility thanks to Windows partitions. Spark has the target of erasing these partition within the end of 2008, having a fully open-source configuration.
Open source
Spark is very convinced and supporter of the open-source community. After a long period of study, in 2007 a parallel pipeline for 3D Graphic based on Blender was introduced with the target of completely substituting all the most common software with open-source technology within the year 2008.
SAFETY
For Spark, safey is a primary object. NAS System is fully ridondant: the stability is natural-disaster proof.
Every protocol, power supplier or system-disk are duplicated, making impossible the crashing of the workstations.
The whole material is kept and stored with DLT-LTO2 tapes system, in order to storing master projects and scanning the negative. Spark keeps the copies of the closed works on LTO2 tapes for 3 years.
All the Spark workstations are made and certified by DELL SA, worldwide hardware leader constructor.
