Spark Motion Blur user interface

The first version of Spark motion blur node we are improving is almoust finished.
This node calculates objects’ movement between two frames,
creating subframes or slices (as we called it).
Now we are running several tests to check the effectiveness of this node and we are working on the user interface.
This is how the node currently looks.

As you can see the inputs are image (a rgba channel), Z and speed. The outputs are image and Z.

Max Displace sets the maximum distance that moving pixels are allowed to do in a single slice. This allows us to define how many slices we will use to calculate the motion blur’s trail.
Using Max Slices, we can decide the maximum number of slices to take into consideration, in order to avoid making the rendering time too long.
For a best visual result we can increase the Oversampling. The node will calculate the trial scaling the input image (2:1, 3:1,…) so we obtain a nice antialiasing effect. But this will also increase render time as well.
We could also activate Low Pass Filter to add a gaussian filter. This will help make the trial smoother and allows us to decide the radius of the kernel (Size).

In Trial Options there is Ratio slider that simulate the shutter time and Persistance slider that simulate the exposure time. These two parametres allow one to regulate the dimension and the trasparency of the generated trail. You can play with this parametres for obtain the visual result that you desider :-D

So, let see a render.

    Where’s the animation we rendered!
It’s the most important result we achieved today!
There’s also a very important node to speak about… the depth compositor!
    Gherard! let’s other know more!!!!!!

    Don’t worry boss.
A brand new post with the animation is incoming.
An we will also speak about the depth compositor (maybe in another post).

I’m used to fractionate the news I have to spread,
otherwise the post I write will be long as Dante’s DIVINA COMMEDIA….
(and remeber that I’m from Florence!)

I have to admit I don’t always agree with you, but in this case you really hit the nail on the head.
