watching the bits flow…
We’re almost wrapping up the production of “Interviews from the future”, and while watching our render farm as it crunches the last shots I’m thinking about this few months since we decided to switch our pipeline to Blender.
I’m definitely very satisfied with our results so far, and can’t wait to share some pictures from this project… but we’ll have to wait a bit for that, so in the meantime I’ll share some random thoughts!
First of all I want to thank Enrico and Bassam: their work has been invaluable and we really, really enjoyed the time with them (I hope they can say the same
). I can’t stress enough how important and useful it was to have two blender gurus in the studio!
Then I was very impressed at how fast Dino and Gianpaolo could get productive with Blender. They are both brilliant animators with no prior Blender experience, and it only took them two or three days to get used to the tool… sweet! Now we have a very good case history that will be useful when talking with artists new to Blender.
Of course we still have a long way to go, especially in terms of setting up a pipeline and dealing with different paradigms (and rough edges
), but Blender proved stable and reliable enough to get the job done without big worries…
…and now back to the bits!

Hi,
That’s really interesting because i’m learning Blender by myself at the moment and i’m thinking about learning a bit of Maya too in the future (i’m signed to a Cinema FX course where the main program is Maya) , so knowing that switching between this two software it’s not too hard makes me a bit more relaxed because i don’t want to leave Blender behind , it’s such a great tool for 3d =)
Ciao.
